Studies show that early childhood education has enormous benefits. When engaged in a good readiness program, those children are less likely to need special-education services and more likely to have the confidence and independence needed for Kindergarten.
Helping all children to start Kindergarten and ready to learn is critical to their future success and to the well-being of society as a whole. Children who start school behind their peers are unlikely to catch up. Children who enter kindergarten with limited word reading skills are the most likely to develop later reading difficulties and require remedial education.
Kindergarten Readiness is helping children, parents, and teachers avoid these pitfalls. We believe that children should love and enjoy their preschool and kindergarten years and that this can be accomplished by providing gentle, fun, and consistent learning experiences. We hope you enjoy Kidz Go Eco Preschool as we help your child become Kindergarten Ready.
Eligibility for Kindergarten: Differences in State Statutes
State statutes are consistent in regard to requiring children to reach the chronological age of five either before enrolling or while they are students in a kindergarten program. Forty-four states have statutes specifying the dates by which children must turn five in order to be eligible for kindergarten.
Kindergarten cutoff dates range from July 1 to January 1. The most popular date falls in September. Twenty-eight states require that children reach their fifth birthday some time during or before the end of this month. When looking to enroll your child for Kindergarten, the State of Maine requires that children must reach the age of 5 on or before October 16.
